eat plants.

eat plants. was created by Lauren Lester, a cookbook author, food photographer, and stylist.

Her recipe websites reached millions until she decided to just eat plants. Now, she’s back with plant-powered recipes that are rooted in Appalachian flavors with a global flare.

Here, you’ll find easy to follow recipes for dishes like Crispy Garlic Tostones with Hot Pepper Jelly, Real Deal Southern Biscuits, and Pickled Habanero Ranch Dressing.

Want more than recipes? Visit the site's curated and salubrious columns which feature all things art and culture.

about eat plants.

about eat plants.

  • 100% PLANT-BASED 4EVER.

No dairy, no eggs, no animal products, period.

  • No wheat or gluten, ever ✌️ Not because it’s evil, but because I believe recipes should be accessible.

  • Most of the recipes you’ll find on eat plants. revolve around my 5 basics: rice, potatoes, tofu, cabbage, and cauliflower. They are the backbone of my kitchen and the foods I like eating the most.

You’ll also find plenty of chocolate, lemons, oats, and an endless amount of cherries 🍒

  • I could give you a 3rd-person written bio here to the tune of “Lauren Lester is the founder of…” BOR-ING. I’m bored, are you bored?

    So. Here’s the deal.

I’m Lauren. I’ve created thousands of recipes for hundreds of brands including one’s I built from the ground up. But shhh, we don’t talk about those as I wasn’t vegan then.

After exiting the not so plant-based parts of my company in 2019 and early 2023, I missed having a place to share my recipes.

There’s something about recipes having a home, a container of sorts where you get the full scoop. The food is the story, the story the food.

    Enter, eat plants.

Here, there’s no influence from SEO. I’m not writing 1,000-word articles to placate the Google overlords with enshittification.

There will be no answering of “is [enter food name here] [enter diet name here].” Just good food and hopefully a good time.
